On 7th September 2020, India joined the elite club of countries consisting of the United States of America, Russia and China having the capability to develop hypersonic missiles which are hard to track and intercept.
A scramjet (supersonic-combustion ramjet) is a ramjet engine in which the airflow through the engine remains greater than the speed of sound. Scramjet powered vehicles are envisioned to operate at speeds up to at least Mach 15 and are very useful in developing missiles.

Earlier DRDO conducted the scramjet engine test in 2019, but unfortunately, it failed. However, in a year, DRDO successfully tested it in the second attempt.
